Our Learning Philosophy

A gentle, play based approach to preschool education that honours each child’s pace while preparing them for kindergarten.

Children learn best when they feel seen and safe.

At Rocky Point Preschool we believe that early childhood learning starts with a sense of belonging. Before we talk about letters, numbers, or science projects, we focus on routines, relationships, and a classroom rhythm that helps children settle in.

Play based learning with clear intentions.

Our classrooms are set up with different learning areas — blocks, art, dramatic play, books, and sensory materials. Children are free to explore, while teachers gently guide the experience with specific goals in mind: language growth, problem solving, turn taking, and confidence.

This balance of freedom and structure is what we mean when we talk about play based learning: children remain curious and engaged, and teachers quietly shape the experience so it supports a strong early education curriculum.

Preparing for kindergarten without rushing childhood.

Kindergarten readiness at Rocky Point Preschool is about much more than worksheets. We focus on the everyday skills that make the first years of school easier: following simple instructions, asking for help, taking turns, and expressing big feelings in words.

If you would like to see how this philosophy turns into daily routines, you can explore our Curriculum and Programs pages, or come in for a visit to observe a morning in our classroom.
